"I'm happy that he had a painless death in his sleep. I'm sure Allah miya wanted some entertainment and he took Yashji from us. I'm happy now, the people back in heaven will get to see some good cinema and chiffon saris," said SRK.

MUMBAI: The sudden demise of veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra has left superstar Shah Rukh Khan bereaved. He describes it as a personal loss, and says he will always keep a part of the filmmaker in his heart.

Chopra breathed his last due to a multi-organ failure here Sunday evening. He was 80.

"Whenever my loved ones depart, I feel a part of me extinguishes itself with them. Will there come a day that I will no longer have a bit of myself to let go of? And then the thought follows … that every time they have taken some of me with them onto their last journey, I have found a fragment of them left inside me too.

"I will always have some love to give and I will always be both emptied and replenished by the loved ones I lose. I keep u with me Yashji and I miss u too Yashji … lots," SRK posted on his Facebook page.

SRK was special for Chopra, who directed the actor in movies like "Darr" (1993), "Dil To Pagal Hai" (1997) and "Veer-Zaara" (2004). Chopra's last directorial "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", which will hit the screens Nov 13, also features Shah Rukh.

The actor was like family to him – sharing the joys and sorrows. No wonder he rushed to the Lilavati Hospital as soon as the news of Chopra's death was announced.

In fact, SRK also chose to leave his car and sit in the same vehicle which transported Chopra's body from the hospital to the filmmaker's residence.

The actor had a warm conversation with Chopra on the latter's 80th birthday in September.

Shah Rukh Khan says his perception about love has not
changed over the years. "A relationship is between two
people and it is a very personal experience. When you
are in love, you have to be yourself. My perception of love
has not changed over the years," said Shah Rukh.
"I feel we lose out on love when we start looking at bigger things. I
think in love,
simple things matter, like listening. I think girls know better how to
love than men,"
he said.
He claimed he is also in love with the whole idea of on-screen
romance. "I fall in
love with the story idea and the belief of love in it. I like the
whole idea of the love
story. I believe in every scene that I do. I think I can understand
and emote love,"
he said.
According to him, there is no other place he could think of being, other than
Bollywood. "I am happy to be here. I don't think there is any other
place other the
film industry where I would rather be. I would love to live and die
being an actor."
He said he is looking forward to the release of his forthcoming film Jab Tak Hai
Jaan, directed by Yash Chopra. "I feel if you have to do a romantic
film, it has to be
with Yash Chopra. It is amazing to do films

The actor has sent an application to the Trade Mark Registry that his often-used initials not be used without his permission

Shah Rukh Khan is a brand by himself. And very soon his often-used initials - SRK may become a very valuable property. TOI found out that the actor has recently applied for a trademark on his name SRK at the Delhi office of the Trade Mark Registry. However, he has not received a final confirmation on it yet. According to the rules, once his trademark SRK is published in the Indian Trademark Journal, anybody who has an objection can file a notice within three months.

Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar had applied for the same, to trademark his name SRT, earlier this year. In fact, we had told you how when Vidhu Vinod Chopra needed to use the cricketer's name in his film Ferrarri Ki Sawaari, he had to seek Sachin's permission.

In the West, getting a trademark on one's name isn't uncommon. In fact, Roger Federer, Michael Jordon and Jennifer Lopez are among some of the names that have been trademarked in the past.

And now, SRK is ready to add his name to the list. A source close to the actor told TOI, "SRK has become bigger with every project. He has taken this decision after a lot of thought. Career wise, it is a great decision to safeguard his brand." Interestingly, the application submitted by the actor to the Trade Mark Registry (of which, TOI has a copy) bars several industries from using his name. For example, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, water and even other non-alcoholic drinks can't use the actor's name. The same goes for fresh fruits, vegetables, salt, mustard so on and so forth.

SRK to be a trademark!

Yash Chopra prepares to say goodbye to direction with Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), his assistant directors (who have worked with him for years) are busy designing a spectacular souvenir for the king of romance. They want this to be their special gift to their mentor.

The unit of the film will soon head to Switzerland to shoot the only remaining song - a romantic number with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif - with Chopra behind the camera. Says a source from the film's set, "Adi (Aditya Chopra), who is an assistant director on the film, along with the other ADs, came up with the idea of making the last shot magnificent. To make it stand out, they've decided to use multiple cameras and shoot from various angles, giving it a multi-dimensional feel. Yashji is a living legend, and obviously, his last shot has to be a huge moment."

Katrina, who is in Chicago, USA, isn't aware of the development yet, but she says whatever the plans are, she is lucky and privileged to be part of the film. "This movie will always be special as it is Yashji's last direction. I truly feel lucky that he gave me a chance to be part of his rich history. Like I've said earlier, your CV is not complete unless you've worked with Yashji. He takes romance to a different level!"

Son Adi, however, will give this special trip a miss due to other commitments in Mumbai. "It's a special moment for the unit. We're planning to shoot it in a grand way to be able to freeze that moment for posterity," says the spokesperson of JTHJ. The 80-year-old director wielded the megaphone after a gap of eight years for this film. And then, he decided to hang up his boots and mentor budding directors.

Yash Chopra started his journey in the film industry as an assistant to IS Johar and then joined his brother BR Chopra, who was a director-producer at the time. In 1959, he made his directorial debut with Dhool Ka Phool.
